A serving police constable has been charged with two counts of sexual communication with a child and one count of misconduct whilst in public office after an online ‘sting’ group claim to have caught him communicating online with girls he knew were underage.
PC Haydyn Brunsdun was a serving response Police Constable based at Darlington Police Station and has been suspended by Durham Constabulary.
An online ‘predator sting’ group claim to have evidence that Brunsdun, 31, was wanting to meet a child at Spennymoor Custody Hub and confronted him whilst he was on duty after he sent pictures of himself in uniform to a chat with the girl.,
Durham Constabulary said ” Haydyn Brunsdon was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning (September 25) and taken into police custody.” Brunsdun was remanded into custody to appear before a court the next day.
He was released on conditional bail after appearing at Teesside Magistrates Court and will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court next week.
In a statement by Durham Constabulary they said that an officer “has been suspended from duty while a criminal investigation is carried out.
Brunsdon has been told by the court that he is not allowed any unsupervised contact with children.
