Russell Brand charged with sexual offences

The Metropolitan Police have announced that Brand has been charged with four offences that are alleged to have occurred in 1999, 2001, and 2004–2005.

Charges against the 50-year-old actor and comedian include sexual assault, rape, indecent assault, and oral rape in relation to four different women.

A police investigation was commenced by detectives following reporting by Dispatches, a Channel 4 production, and The Sunday Times.

The alleged offences happened in the Westminster area of London and also in the Bournemouth area.

Brand will appear before magistrates on May 2, 2025.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy from the Metropolitan Police, who is leading the investigation, said, “The women who have made reports continue to receive support from specially trained officers.

“The Met’s investigation remains open, and detectives ask anyone who has been affected by this case, or anyone who has any information, to come forward and speak with police. A dedicated team of investigators is available via email at CIT@met.police.uk.

“Support is also available by contacting the independent charity, Rape Crisis, at 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line.”
